Australia's construction industry employs over 1.3 million full-time workers and continues to face strong demand for residential housing and infrastructure projects across every state and territory.
The Federal Government has committed $90.6 million to grow the construction workforce and set an ambitious national target of 1.2 million new homes. Qualified site supervisors and licensed low rise builders holding the CPC40120 Certificate IV in Building and Construction are in high demand right now.
With residential construction activity expanding across QLD, NSW, VIC, SA, and WA, there has never been a better time to step into the industry. Not everyone needs to become a builder. This could mean securing employment in management, starting your own construction company and employing a licensed builder, or building a business in areas like design, landscaping, or home improvement while continuing to develop your trade and experience.

Josh had been working on site for years.
Long weeks. Six days a week. Always on the go.
Reliable. Experienced. Good at what he does.
But the long weeks were starting to wear him down.
He had the skills. He just needed the qualification to move forward.
He enrolled in the Certificate IV in Building and Construction to reduce time on the tools and create better opportunities through licensing.
From there, things started to shift. More understanding of how projects run. More confidence to take on responsibility. A clearer path beyond day-to-day site work.
The result wasn't overnight, but it was steady. Less time on the tools. More control over his schedule. Work starting to fit around life, not the other way around.
Within three years:
Year 1
Completed Certificate IV. Built knowledge in planning, compliance, and managing construction work.
Year 2
Stepped into more responsibility on-site. Began moving toward licensing. Reduced weekend work.
Year 3
Licensed and running his own jobs. Working a consistent 5-day week. More balance and control.
